"Mar De La Tranquildad" by Azul Y Negro - Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Spanish duo, Azul Y Negro consisted of Carlos Vaso and Jose Antonio Alvarez.
The group had a big hit with "The Night (La Noche)" in 1982 and also a follow up "No Tengo Tiempo (Con Los Dedos De Una Mano)" in 1983. Their keyboards were the closest to 80's disco innovation for the period. It was a sound that clubs were waiting for with energy and simplicity.
"Mar de La Tranquildad" is a fantastic and moody instrumental which comes from their 1982 LP "La Edad De Los Colores" - a great example of how these musicians created a painting out of their music pieces.
I have taken the 1964 Italian Spaghetti Western film, "Fistfull Of Dollars" starring Clint Eastwood to use as the backdrop for this powerful disco track. It works well with the dirt and grit of the Western film and creates images that resonate beyond their time.
The film was directed by Sergio Leone
