“Lady Marmalade” by Labelle – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Labelle is Patti Labelle, Sarah Dash and Non Hendryx – a funk/soul female trio who began recording in the early 70s. Their 1974 album “Nightbirds” made history with the single “Lady Marmalade” which became a soul/pop hit and an everlasting echo of the funk in disco music’s early stages. Produced by Allen Toussaint.
I have taken the song and blended it in a Disco Video Mix with the 1963 romantic comedy, “Irma la Deuce” starring Shirley McLaine and Jack Lemmon. The setting of Hotel Casanova and the lane of working girls in France lift the song for a stage for pieces of light drama and a few dances scenes!
The film was directed by Billy Wilder
