“Shanghaied” by ‘Lectric Funk – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
‘Lectric Funk is a band produced by John Ferrara (Average Disco Band, Ferrara, Lysa Lynn) and written for David Blech and Isaac Blech for a the 1976 comedy “The Gas Pump Girls”. The single “Shanghaied” is a big disco classic which has the riveting power of a wall of synthesizers and the mystic of orient adventure film. It is one of the most recognizable tracks from the time and a favorite among high energy and disco fans.
I have taken the 1986 martial arts comedy “Big Trouble In Little China” starring Kurt Russell and Kim Cattrall. Although the film deals with a fantasy regarding Chinese-black magic and very little with an actual “dragon lady” the fierce synthesizers paint an audible sound for the action and adventure.
