“Le Spank” by La Pamplemousse – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
La Pamplemousse is disco project from W. Michael Lewis and Laurin Rinder – they designed innovative club music for the attitude and feel of discotheques. Many of their sessions were concepts which were enhanced by laying the groove flat out. Their music was also recorded under the names El Coco, Discognosis, Saint Tropez, Tuxedo Junction and In Search Of Orchestra. The track “Le Spank” is from their 1977 album and has the feel of Barry White’s “It’s Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next To Me” with a bit more for the risqué dance floor of the seventies.
I have created a Disco Video Mix for “Le Spank” using the big Paris dance sequence from the 1957 musical comedy “Les Girls” starring Gene Kelly, Kay Kendall, Mitzi Gaynor and Taina Elg. The burlesque feel gives off a spark to the disco groove and makes the film fit right in with La Pamplemousse.
The film was directed by George Cukor
