“Homosexuality” by Modern Rocketry – Disco Video Mix by Glenn Rivera
Modern Rocketry is Ken Kessie and Morey Goldstein and the sound is a part of the HINRG era of the early and late 80s which emerged from San Francisco. The track “Homosexuality” is from their album, “Get Ready” from 1985. It is a camp-like tribute to homosexuals and the obvious stereo types of the nightlife scene and adventure of living out of the closet.
I have taken scenes from the 1995 documentary, “The Celluloid Closet” – a film based on the research of Hollywood and their treatment of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender characters throughout the years – some positive but mostly the negative stereotype. It plays out in a direct and sometime comedic way – but in my mind I find it important to keep the history of alive to never forget far human rights have come.
The film was directed by Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Freidman
